Yessica Chavez-Gamez - Define American

Yessica Chavez-Gamez

Webster, NY

Dear America, Although I rather not call myself American I am part of you. I came to you as a baby of only three months to be raised by you till this day nineteen years. My life belongs here in your land. My parents left their homes and families to come to you in search of a better future for me. But sadly along with the accomplishments I have made in life here I have also suffered Alot of sad times. I have always been in constant fear and last year that fear came true. My father was taken from me by ICE for being here. I need your help now America! I am a young adult ready to take on the world with all my will but I can’t because I must hide. I have Alot of dreams. Dreams to help my community… Help me and help others like me with dreams of bright futures! We want to be the future you dream of!
