Yvan Iturriaga directs The North Pole, written and executive produced by Josh Healey, executive produced by Rosario Dawson and Movement Generation. The show is co-executive produced by Favianna Rodriguez and Darren Colston.
Yvan defines American as anyone from the tip of Chile to the top of Canada, but on the United States: “It’s a very diverse place filled with immigrants, created by immigrants, every state is extremely different and when they formed this union they came up with this name which I find extremely unoriginal, The United States of America, I feel like that’s a work in progress name and I think they should have come up with something a little bit more clever or original and that way we wouldn’t have this problem.”
You can find the show The North Pole on YouTube.
Yvan’s past work includes PBS specials such as “The Storm That Swept Mexico” and “A Photographer’s Journey,” and his short film “Beep” was an official selection at the San Francisco Latino Film Festival. Yvan grew up border-crossing through Latin America, living in the extended Chilean exile community, before landing as a teenager in Oakland.
